I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Florida and received my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling as well as my Ph.D. in Counseling from Florida Atlantic University. I am also an Adjunct Professor of Counseling at Florida Atlantic University, helping to prepare the next generation of counselors. My clinical and research interest is mastery in psychotherapy and the importance of the therapeutic relationship in client counseling outcomes. I have extensive experience working with individuals struggling with a variety of presenting concerns and have counseled clients who are diverse in terms of age, ethnicity, diagnosis, and socio-economic status. Together, we can work to understand how and why old solutions may no longer work in new situations, and how to build a meaningful life of which you can feel proud.
My Approach
I offer individualized, client-centered, psychotherapy using a variety of evidence-based counseling approaches. These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Solution-Focused therapy. I work with individuals, couples, and families, and I am happy to communicate with other providers or members of your treatment team. I believe in a relationship-focused, strengths-based approach to helping, with a healthy dose of humor when needed. I am dedicated to forming a supportive alliance with my clients to help them navigate their journey toward wellness and mental health. As a licensed therapist with expertise in both community mental health and addiction counseling, I do my best to provide counseling services that foster a supportive relationship that feels “right”. My clients enjoy my professional, yet casual approach to counseling and my ability to tailor various highly effective counseling interventions to their unique needs, culture, and preferences.
I am experienced in working with individuals and families, and am additionally well-acquainted with many of the general mental health concerns with which people come to therapy. Additionally, I have expertise in working with issues related to early and sustained recovery from addictions, advanced training for working with various mental health concerns, and young adult issues.
